Serina Deen MD
Treating the mind, body, and spirit.
“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

My Approach
I’m not a typical psychiatrist. I don’t just prescribe medications for symptom relief. I want more for my patients. I want them to find deep self-love, fierceness, freedom, and connection to something larger than themselves.
I work with all my patients in psychotherapy to discover unconscious blocks and ways of thinking that hold us back. I encourage a meditation practice. I provide education about psychedelics. We sit in the mystery of it all together.
As an MD, I consider how medications and supplements could be useful. I also keep in mind how illness, inflammation, diet, and lifestyle could be contributing to symptoms.
I welcome seekers who want to know themselves better and feel more connected to the world around them.
Focusing on Long-Lasting Well Being

I trained at Princeton, Mount Sinai, Columbia, and UCSF, and have over 15 years of experience treating trauma, depression, and anxiety.
Prior to entering private practice, I served as a full-time faculty member at UCSF.
I use Western medicine and Eastern wisdom in my approach to care.

“What does it mean to live a fragile, finite life in an infinite, eternal universe?”

“Dr. Deen is a force of nature as far as doctors go. She is the type of person who genuinely cares about her patients, going above and beyond to make sure that the doctor/patient relationship is a collaborative one where you have agency in making decisions for yourself about your mental health. She is clearly an expert in her field, and yet never once did I feel condescended to because she is not only an extremely intellectual individual, she is also highly emotionally intelligent. She’s honestly the standard of what health practitioners should aspire be. I always felt like she regarded me with a level of professional care that has yet to be matched by any other doctor I’ve seen in any other field of medicine, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
